Description
- Recognizes human IL-31
- IL-31 (Interleukin-31) is a four-helix bundle cytokine, expressed by several types of cells under normal and disease state (activated CD4+T cells, mast celles, monocytes, macrophages, immature and mature monocyte-derived dendritic cells)
- Signals through heterodimeric receptor complex consisting of IL-31 receptor alpha and oncostatin M receptor
- Plays predominant function in mediation of inflammatory and lymphoma-associated itch
- Increased IL-31 expression has detached in inflamed tissues from patients with atopic dermatitis, bowel diseases, allergic asthma and rhinitis
Process:
- Antibody specific for human IL-31 pre-coated onto microwells
- Human IL-31 protein in samples captured by the coated antibody after incubation
- After extensive washing, another antibody of biotinylated specific for human IL-31 is added to detect captured human IL-31 protein
- For signal development, Streptavidin-HRP is added, followed by Tetramethyl-benzidine (TMB) reagent
- Solution containing sulfuric acid used to stop color development and color intensity
- Proportional to quantity of bound protein, measurable at 450 nm with correction wavelength set at 630 nm
