KIMBLE™ is a trusted brand for laboratory glassware and specialty products that are made from 33 expansion borosilicate glass and soda lime glass.
With more than 11,000 products, the brand offers a comprehensive range of laboratory glass products for scientific applications, mainly manufactured to ASTM standards.
Azlon™ reusable plastic labware encompasses a variety of applications in the lab. With over 800 products, including wash bottles, volumetric items, and storage bottles in a range of plastic polymers, the Azlon™ portfolio includes all the plastic essentials needed for traditional science applications.
Manufactured to the highest quality standards, Azlon™ products utilize a variety of plastic molding techniques including blow molding and injection molding to ensure superior product performance. Azlon™ is one of the most widely known and respected brands in durable plastic labware.
Originally developed in 1908 for use on the American railroads, PYREX™ borosilicate glass was designed to overcome a problem with train lanterns requiring a glass that could handle changes in temperature. The heat of the lantern flame conspired with the cold air of winter to shatter traditional glass lanterns.
Quickly realising that the superior thermal and chemical resistance properties of PYREX™ borosilicate glass made it the ideal material for use in laboratory glassware, Corning Inc. registered the PYREX™ brand name and went on to produce the first PYREX™ laboratory glass items - beakers and flasks - in 1915.
DWK Life Sciences continues to produce PYREX™ laboratory glassware under licence from Corning Inc., using traditional glassblowing techniques and the latest glass production technology.
Thanks to its revolutionary thermal properties and chemical resistance, PYREX™ continues to be a trusted tool of scientists around the globe.
First developed in 1934, Quickfit™ ground glass joints were designed as an alternative for scientists using rubber bungs, as well as glass and rubber tubing, to connect pieces of glassware.
Today, Quickfit™ jointed glassware is manufactured at DWK Life Sciences’ production facility in Stoke-on-Trent , U.K.
Quickfit™ glass items are manufactured exclusively from PYREX™ borosilicate glass which has a low coefficient of expansion that makes it ideal for use over a wide temperature range. PYREX™ is also highly resistant to chemical attack making it suitable for use with most acids, alkalis, and organic solvents.
Quickfit™ products surpass the requirements of ISO 383 and DIN 12242. A two stage grinding process ensures the formation of a precision 1:10 taper and super-fine surface finish. This results in joints with an exceptionally good seal and a greatly reduced risk of joint seizure.
Unlike other joints, Quickfit™ sockets feature a rounded rim profile. This round design gives extra strength to the joint and is less prone to chipping than a square rim profile.
Introduced in 1949, the MBL™ brand is comprised of around 300 mainly volumetric products. Now a well-established brand of DWK Life Sciences, MBL™ features products made from both borosilicate and soda-lime glass.
All DWK Life Sciences volumetric products are tested and calibrated in an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory located at DWK’s glass manufacturing facility in Stoke-on-Trent, U.K. In addition to complying with the relevant ISO or national standard, the ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation offers our customers increased assurance of the precision and accuracy of our volumetric glassware.
The MBL™ range includes measuring and mixing cylinders, volumetric flasks, burettes and pipettes, all manufactured, calibrated, and tested to the highest accuracy standards.
MBL™ has acquired an international reputation for its quality, accuracy, and performance - a reputation that continues to this day.
As a cell culture scientist, you never stop thinking about the viability of your cells. Successful cell cultures and downstream experiments can be rapidly destroyed by problems like cell line misidentification and microbial cross contamination.
At DWK Life Sciences, we know that these problems take valuable time to resolve, which is why we provide you with the product quality and performance required to succeed at every stage of cell culture, ensuring reliable downstream results.
In this fundamental but crucial step culture media and other reagents such as phosphate buffered saline (PBS) are prepared. The laminar flow cabinet must be cleaned to ensure sterility and a suitable container for media and reagent storage is needed.
During this step, cells are transferred into the laminar flow cabinet and are passaged into a new culture vessel for further maintenance or use in a cell assay. Centrifugation is generally used to remove and refresh expired cell culture media.
The incubation step gives cells time and the optimal environment to facilitate cell proliferation. Incubation is typically performed over multiple days or weeks at 37°C. Cells will be inside a culture vessel held within an incubator during this stage. In the case of roller bottles, roller apparatus would also be required.
The aim of cryopreservation is to freeze cells in liquid nitrogen for later revival. Expired media is removed through centrifugation and the cell pellet is resuspended in a solution containing DMSO. Cells are then transferred to a cryogenic vial which is designed to safely house cells in liquid nitrogen.
In analytical science, there are a variety of analytical methods that can be used to elucidate the structure or monitor the reaction of a substance. NMR spectroscopy, as well as the various methods of chromatography, are the most commonly used methods.
In order to achieve the best possible working and measuring results, you need high quality glassware and equipment. As a leading manufacturer of laboratory glassware, DWK Life Sciences has an extensive range of products to meet your needs.
Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR spectroscopy) is a spectroscopic method to elucidate the structure of molecules and compounds. Due to electronic interactions of single atoms with the neighbouring atoms, structural conclusions can be drawn. In addition to structure elucidation, the concentration and dynamics of molecules can be determined with this method. This analytical method requires very precise tubes with a constant diameter, a uniform wall thickness and excellent straightness across the entire tube. DWK Life Sciences offers an extensive range of NMR tubes and accessories for this method.
The aqueous separation of substance mixtures due to their interaction with a stationary phase and the associated distribution of the individual components is called chromatography. In combination with other analytical and separation methods, the individual components of a sample can be isolated and finally detected. WHEATON offers a wide range of chromatography vials and accessories. The vials are designed for trouble-free operation in most autosamplers. Products include, for example, 12mm x 32mm autosampler vials, headspace vials and shell vials. For use in GC and HPLC applications, the vials are offered with crimp, snap/crimp and screw caps. To ensure chemical compatibility with your sample, DWK Life Sciences offers a variety of different cap and septum materials.
One of the best-known chromatographic separation methods is thin-layer chromatography (TLC), which can be used to isolate individual components of a mixture of substances both qualitatively and quantitatively. The stationary phase (silica gel or aluminium oxide) is applied to a carrier plate, to the lower end of which the sample to be separated is applied selectively. Placed in a vessel with the mobile phase, the liquid rises up the plate. The sample is separated due to the different affinities of the individual components for the stationary and mobile phases, which are thus carried along to different extents in the mobile phase. The product range offered by DWK Life Sciences includes a variety of TLC chambers and jars as well as capillary tubes and other TLC accessories.
WHEATON BOD bottles are ideal for incubating dilute samples of wastewater, sewage, polluted waters and industrial waste to determine the amount of oxygen required during the stabilisation of degradable organic matter by aerobic biochemical processes. DWK Life Sciences supports this special application with a selection of tubes and accessories.
The exact measurement of volumes is a daily routine task in the laboratory. This makes it all the more important to ensure the quality of the instruments required for this purpose, from volumetric flasks to stoppers, day after day, for every analysis over the long term. Volumetric instruments are integral parts of laboratory glassware that enable the precise measurement of liquids. This ensures high reliability and reproducibility of the measurement results. All DWK Life Sciences volumetric instruments are manufactured to the highest possible standards and meet or exceed the most stringent ASTM and ISO regulations as well as the tight tolerances required. Our range includes a variety of volumetric flasks and cylinders, pipettes and burettes as well as accessories.
