Protein serine-threonine kinase Dyrk1a (dual-specificity tyrosine-(Y)-phosphorylation regulated kinase 1A, PSK47), predominately expressed in the central nervous system, is a dual-specificity kinase and emerge roles in cell growth and development. Human clone has been isolated from the Downs' syndrome critical region. Dyrk1a inhibition may provide a therapeutic approach for the neurological defects of Down syndrome.
